Extracts from a diary
26th April 2005
Took Miles to a ‘Baby Sensory’ session this morning,
which was fabulous. Lots of rhymes, singing, bright
colours and activities for us to do together. Some
really good ideas that I can try at home too especially
the baby massage. During the ‘free play’ section we
experienced lots of different toys – a playnest full of
shiny, furry and brightly coloured material, squidgy
balls that light up, puppets… Miles loved it and
especially the coloured lights moving about on the
ceiling. Great for me to be with other mums with young
babies too – have signed up for the rest of the term!!

July 2006
Well, today was out last session and it’s the end of an
era. Miles and I have really looked forward to our
weekly trip to Sherfield English and it’s going to be
hard to find another activity that we both get so much
out of. Over the last year-and-a-bit we’ve had the
chance to try out new toys, get ideas for simple and
cheap activities to do at home, learn rhymes and sings,
socialise with other mums and toddlers and generally
enter Baby Heaven! It’s been such fun – Lin’s enthusiasm
is infectious and each week has been different and
really imaginatively put together. We’re going to miss
the bubbles, rainbows, sea creatures, puppet shows, bell
ringing, pompom dancing and of course the ‘Say hello’
song. But all good things must come to an end….
