Sarah’s Professional Experience
After leaving university, Sarah took up a career in
Social Work, working as a House Parent in a residential
children’s home, where she was involved in the day to
day care of children, many of whom had been traumatised
by neglect, abuse and loss. After five years Sarah was
married and had the first of her three children.
Sarah has been raising her children for the last
eighteen years, but in recent years she has been taking
on some part time work. She has worked as a Speech
Therapy assistant (helping children with delayed speech
or phonic difficulties), as a Rainbows group facilitator
(Rainbows is a voluntary organisation that works with
children who are grieving a death, divorce or other
painful transition in their family) and up until
recently she has been working as a Childcare Assistant
at Orahova Montessori School in Greystones. During this
time she has been studying locally, updating all her
childcare qualifications.
Sarah feels that family life, her qualifications and her
work over the years means that she has gained a great
deal of experience of interacting with children and
babies. Sarah discovered Baby Sensory through her
sister Jane, in England, who attended classes in Kent
with her baby daughter Maddie. Her sister was thrilled
to find a class catering for her baby’s development that
was fun to attend and offered so much variety. At the
time Sarah had been hoping to start a new venture
involving babies and/or young children, so Baby Sensory
immediately appealed to her.
She is now very excited to be the first Baby Sensory
teacher in Ireland and can’t wait to start her classes
in County Wicklow. In her own words: “It will be a
delight to see young babies respond and learn through
play”. |
