Profile of Nicky Clark
Since my first doll my Mum knew that I had a passion for
caring and looking after children. She used to say that
I was like a mini Mummy!
After finishing my exams I had the qualifications to get
into College. After two years at Borders College I
qualified as a Nursery Nurse (SNNB). During my training
I was placed in schools, nurseries, playgroups and The
Sick Children's Hospital in Edinburgh, which I really
enjoyed and throughout the summer holidays I did extra
babysitting and also had my first experience as a
nanny.
Over the next couple of years I worked in various
nurseries and managed to work my way up to being
a Nursery Officer for Edinburgh City Council.
It was during this time I met my partner Duncan and
decided to try and get a job through in the Lanarkshire
direction where he lived. Nursery jobs were very thin on
the ground so I decided that after enjoying nannying
during my summer away from college, I would see what
jobs were on offer. I got placed with an excellent
family in Glasgow and they made nannying the only way
forward for me! The love, time and affection that you
can express when you are a nanny to me is the best part
about the job. As families grow up you need to move on
and that is the saddest part, although I still keep in
touch with most of them.
Now 15 years on its time for something different!
Baby Sensory has opened up a new window of direction for
my career and I hope everyone that comes along to one of
my classes will enjoy it as much as I do! |
