Baby Sensory is proud to announce that its classes are
winners of the Best

sponsored by Organix. As well as being voted
winners in this important category Baby Sensory was
commended in two other categories "Best
New Activity"
and "Best
Innovation".
The best innovation award was for the introduction of
special classes for Dads running at weekends.
Company Profile
Baby Sensory was set up in September 2004 in response to
the demand for out of home activities for babies. Baby
Sensory is far more than a baby play group as it
supports parents with the learning and development of
their babies from an early age. It draws on current
research, the work of theorists, early years experts,
and over 30 years of personal experience, training and
networking in the childcare and education sector. If
you are interested in baby development and would like to
run classes at a centre near you, please take a look at
our ‘Run a Class’ page.
In
March 2006 Baby Sensory began its first International
expansion by reaching agreement with Bariki Inc who plan
to establish a flourishing Baby Sensory business in
Canada. Follow the link to our
Canada page to find out more
about Baby Sensory in Canada and Kanan Bhatt, a Director
of Bariki Inc.
The Baby Sensory Experience
Baby Sensory provides hundreds of simple activities that
are fun for babies from birth to 13 months. Our baby
classes include baby activities ranging from signing to fibre optic light shows, amazing light balls, bubbles
and bells; there is always something different.
Many of these activities are set to our own
Baby Sensory music which is
available on CD. What is
really exciting about Baby Sensory is that it is an
adult and baby group where many of the sensory materials
and baby activities are unique to the programme. They
are also particularly suitable for newborn babies and
babies with special needs and/ or disability.
Each baby class includes seven different activities each
week and a discovery play time, during which baby can
enjoy our sensory play area whilst parents have the
opportunity to meet. You will see from our testimonials
that parents and healthcare professionals share a common
enthusiasm for our baby classes. You will be delighted
when you see your baby use skills that have been learned
in our newborn to 6 month classes for the first time.
The Baby Sensory songs and our specially adapted sign
language will help your baby to learn and develop speech
and communication skills from an early age.
Our Founder
Baby
Sensory founder, Dr Lin Day (Dip. Ed. BSc. PGCE. M. Phil)
has worked with babies and young children throughout her
career. Prior to creating the Baby Sensory experience,
which incorporate newborn sessions,
Lin created a musical adventure play concept, 'Wake
Up!'. The primary aim of Wake Up! was to encourage
toddlers and children to become more active through
practical and exciting play. Lin recognised that babies
attending classes with their older brothers and sisters
were spellbound by what was happening around them and
thus founded Baby Sensory, classes for babies.
Lin
has a wealth of relevant experience, She has been a
State Registered Nurse, set up the first Early Years
holiday scheme for under-privileged children in
Wiltshire and then established her own Nursery School,
Woodford Nursery School. A more detailed profile of Lin
is available on our Salisbury class page.
